About Us

 We’re Betsy and Don Horner, now in Okeechobee, Florida, after nearly 40 years in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Don is retired. After a varied career, he most enjoyed owning a store specializing in upscale BBQ grills including fabrication of custom outdoor kitchens. He now spends most of his time at home grooming and landscaping 7-1/2 acres. Betsy is a retired physical therapist who specialized in home visit therapy. She is an avid quilter and devoted to her gardening. Both enjoy traveling, especially cruising with Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and the American Queen, an authentic steam-powered stern paddle wheel river boat. They are now avidly looking forward to “Around the World in 180 Days” aboard Oceania Insignia in January, 2016. Starting in Miami, the cruise will cover more than 90 ports in South America, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the South Pacific and Hawaii, before traveling back through the Panama Canal to end in Miami.  They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 28, 2015, aboard the American Queen on the Mississippi River above St. Louis.


They also enjoy RVing in their Leisure Travel Vans Unity 24IB.


Their daughter, Amy Horner Matthews, recently married Andy Matthews.  They and her 3 children, Zoe, Erin and Aidan Wood, live in Zephyrhills, Florida. Amy is the band director at Centennial Middle School near Zephyrhills, FL. She’s become addicted to running and recently concluded a 50K race.  Andy  is a psychology and history teacher in Tampa.  He’s an Ultra runner — in other words, he runs 100 miles at a time for fun.  He’s completed 25 Ultras, most under 24 hours.At this writing (July, 2015), Zoe is 15 years old and is in 10th grade at Wiregrass Ranch High School. She just got her driver learner’s permit.  Erin is 13 years old and is in 8th grade, and Aidan is 11 and is a 6th grader. All are active in soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football and golf.  Zoe is on the varsity high school weight lifting and golf teams.
Their son, Adam Horner is married to Trisha Cote Horner. They recently moved to Wellington, Florida. Their first child, Noah Cote Horner, turned 4 years old on Halloween. Their newest son, Graham Brody Horner will be 2 in January.  Adam is an appraiser with Wells Fargo bank and Trish is a full-time Mom.
